Frequently Asked Questions

  • I provide psychology support for women and parents during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting. This can include anxiety, postnatal depression, intrusive thoughts and OCD, parenting burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity changes in motherhood, relationship and co-parenting challenges, and adjusting to the ongoing mental load of caring for a baby.

Sessions are available online Australia-wide as well as in person in Coburg. My approach is compassionate, with a focus on creating a safe space where you can talk openly and feel understood.

  • You can book an appointment online at a time that suits you, choosing either an online session or an in-person session in Coburg. You don’t need a referral to book, although you may choose to see your GP before your session if you’d like to access Medicare rebates.

If you’re feeling unsure about reaching out, that’s completely understandable. Many parents feel this way at first. Taking that first step is often the hardest part. If that’s the case, please reach out.I’m always happy to answer questions and help you take that first step in a way that feels comfortable for you

  • Yes! Many mums attend sessions while caring for their baby, and that’s completely okay. Sessions often happen during nap time, and it’s fine to feed, settle, or change your baby during the session.

Online sessions can be especially helpful in the postpartum period. Toddlers can be a bit trickier, but some parents find it easier to keep them occupied at home.

If you do have someone who can care for your baby during your session, it can be a valuable chance to have some uninterrupted time for yourself. At the same time, I understand many mums don’t have that option, and you’re always welcome to attend in whatever way works best for you.

  • No referral is needed to book. A referral is only required if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate.

  • Yes. With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. After the full session fee is paid, the rebate of $145.25 will be processed and paid into your Medicare-nominated bank account, usually within 48 hours.

  • No. You can book your appointment first at a time that suits you, then organise your GP appointment before your psychology session. This helps you secure a spot and be ready with a referral by the time of your appointment.

  • The best way to reach me is by email: admin@mumsinmindpsychology.com.au. I do have a mobile number too, but it often lives on silent while I’m in sessions, so email is generally your safest bet if you’d like a faster response.

  • Yes. I offer online sessions Australia-wide and in-person sessions in Coburg.

  • I use Zoom for online sessions. It’s a convenient way to receive support, especially during pregnancy, postpartum, or early parenting when getting out of the house can feel like a big task.

You’re welcome to attend telehealth sessions in whatever feels comfortable — whether that’s relaxed home clothes, while feeding your baby, or from a quiet private space at home. Some mums also find that their parked car ends up being the most practical option for privacy and uninterrupted time, and that’s completely okay too.

  • The first session is a space for us to get to know each other. I complete an initial assessment through conversation, covering mental health history, family and relationship background, pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period, and your current supports. This helps me understand you and your needs in the context of the bigger picture of your life.

  • This varies from person to person, as everyone’s needs and circumstances are different. After an initial assessment phase, we’ll agree together on a suitable appointment frequency and review this as therapy progresses. At the most frequent, sessions are usually weekly, though some people attend less often depending on their needs, progress, and supports.
